As we draw closer to the final week before the tax disc is abolished I wanted to give you an update following our second webchat on 17 September 2014. It again proved popular with our stakeholders, in particular with motor traders/dealers and generated some really useful discussions.
There was one topic that clearly stood out and that was trade plates. We received numerous questions ranging from ‘How do I apply?’ to ‘How do I use them after 1 October?’ and ‘Can you give me more guidance? Other than trade licence holders not receiving the triangular tax disc to place in their holders after 1 October 2014, the trade plate process will remain unchanged.
Following the webchat I got to work straight away pulling together the answers to those questions asked specifically on trade plate issues. The FAQ document has been issued to our stakeholder groups, motor dealers and trade bodies.
I’ve also arranged to send specific communications to all trade licence holders which provides further detail and advice on how to apply for additional sets of trade licences and the design of the trade plate.
