Abolition of the counterpart – our free communications toolkit

Posted by: , Posted on: - Categories: Abolition of the counterpart

As you know on 8 June 2015 the paper counterpart (D740) to the photocard driving licence will no longer be a valid document and will not be produced and issued by DVLA.

This change will affect individuals and businesses that currently use the counterpart to provide evidence of driving entitlement and/or endorsements or penalty points.

Information for drivers and members of the public can be found on our GOV.UK campaign page. This page contains detailed information about the changes and advice to those who may need to provide evidence of their driver record after 8 June 2015.

To raise awareness

We would appreciate your help and support in promoting this message via your communication channels – internally with your employees and externally with your customers.

We’ve created a toolkit of communication materials that includes both generic and specific messages to target audiences who:

  • employ drivers
  • drive for a living
  • hire a vehicle.

The toolkit includes a briefing pack on the changes, web banners, awareness videos, editorials, posters/leaflets and images.

If you decide to use any of these materials on your own website, could you also provide a link through to the public information page on GOV.UK .

Keep up to date with the changes through this blog. DVLA digital services blog is also available to keep you informed of progress on our new services.

I hope you are able to help us raise awareness of these changes. If you have any specific communication requirements or would like to enquire about different resources please email us abolitionofcounterpart@dvla.gsi.gov.uk.

Please note: we will not be proactively communicating this campaign during the Purdah period of the general election. This is expected to start from 30 March until the new government is formed.
