Our auction contract was successfully awarded to SMA Vehicle Remarketing on Tuesday 14 July 2015.
The contract will start from 16 August 2015 for a period of 3 years with an option to extend by a further year.
Since it all started in 1989, DVLA’s Personalised Registrations have raised over £2.5 billion in revenue for the Treasury, and our auctions play a big part in generating this revenue.
We hold 2 types of auctions:
- timed auctions, held 4 times a year, where buyers can bid for personalised registrations online over a 10 day period
- live auctions, held 5 times a year, where buyers can bid for personalised registrations in person, over the internet and even by telephone. It’s a great event which lasts for 3 days each time at popular locations.
The most expensive registrations sold to date were at our live auctions, with the most expensive registration, 25 O, being bought for over half a million pounds last November.
